The mini-series Infinity Countdown has been building to the next "Event" mini-series - Infinity Wars, natch - but first, we get a one-issue setup called Prime.
The series centers around the struggle for the Infinity Stones - but for mysterious reasons, the stones have changed somehow - and we start to see how in this issue.
The story by Gerry Duggan introduces some of the story's heavy hitters - and we get hints of a terrible menace lurking.
We also meet a (presumably) new player who provides the most shocking events so far - and we're just getting warmed up!
The art by Mike Deodato, Jr. (with color art by Frank Martin) is absolutely stunning, with amazing character depictions and powerful environments.
I was feeling pretty dubious about this mini-series, which seems like an attempt to jump on the movie bandwagon - but so far, they actually seem to have a big story to tell - and one that may be worth the telling.
