Guardians of the Galaxy #9

In comics, like comedy, timing is everything.

That's why it's disappointing that this adventure, which ties in to the Infinity event, is finally presented after that series has wrapped.

Guardians of the Galaxy had relatively little to do with the event - which is strange, since the team is Marvel's resident cosmic squad - and their small slice of it all (related in the last two issues) was just a side mission tied to the S.W.O.R.D. space station.

None of which is to say that this is a bad comic. It features the usual sharp and funny scripting by writer Brian Michael Bendis, and terrific artwork by Francesco Francavilla (though his gritty style is much better suited to more down-to-Earth adventures).

But even though it has some fun moments, and it's good to see Angela being incorporated into the team, the story just ends up not being all that moving.

   And it's late.
