Forever Evil #4

So the upshot here is that the heroes of Earth have somehow been killed (yeah, right) or banished from the planet, leaving the Earth-3 version of the Justice League, the Crime Syndicate, quickly taking control of the planet.

The remaining heroes are proving to be not much of a challenge, so the fate of the Earth appears to rest with those villains who have not signed on to support the Syndicate.

So that gives us Lex Luthor, Bizarro, Black Manta, Captain Cold and Black Adam trying to find an edge in the coming battle - and they quickly find themselves confronting one of the few heroes still alive - the Batman.

This series by Geoff Johns and David Finch (with inks by Richard Friend) continues to be professional in every sense, well constructed with terrific art and a solid story - but it's still difficult to get too involved with it, since up to this point there have been almost no heroes involved.

This issue fixes that oversight (if by adding just one real hero), but at least it's a step in the right direction.

Grade: B+
