When I read this issue I thought - for a moment - that I had picked up the wrong comic.
The last issue of the New Mutants had the team in deep space, dealing with the Shi'ar.
This time around, those heroes are mentioned but not seen - instead we look in on other young mutants back on Krakoa.
Almost all the world's mutants have moved to the island, but a few are missing - and Armor, Glob and Boom-Boom decide to go in search of one of their mutant friends.
What seems an odd change of pace is actually a great way to expand the cast, bring us up to speed and give us reasons to care about these characters.
Of the seeds planted by the new take on the X-Men, this is one of the best so far.
