Shazam! #2

I really want to be a fan of this series, but so far, Shazam hasn't been making it easy.

(I'll try to refrain from my usual "his name is Captain Marvel, dammit" rant.)

Aside from the cover, there's no actual super-hero content in this issue - instead, it follows the, uh, Shazam Family (made up of Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids) as they explore the mystical subway station where Billy first gained his magical powers.

They discover portals to seven mystical lands and decide to go exploring - with surprising results.

I'm struggling to get a handle on this series - there are piles of characters and we don't really know much about any of them, which makes it a bit difficult to get invested in their explorations.

Perhaps it'll start making more sense soon, but so far, it's mostly a hodgepodge of ideas - some entertaining, some puzzling, but none particularly compelling.

   So far.
