The shocking twist at the end of a recent issue of Earth 2 is spoiled by this cover (thanks, DC), as the powerful killer who single-handedly destroyed Earth's armies and heroes is revealed on the cover.
Yep, it's Superman - but is he the one who was apparently killed in the first issue of this series, or is he from an alternate Earth?
We don't get much help on that front here, as he continues cutting a swath across Earth's defenses, and threatens to bring down a literal Hell to life.
Among those fighting back is the mysterious new Batman, who may or may not be Bruce Wayne, as he recruits additional super-powered help in the fight against the forces of Apokolips.
New writer Tom Taylor jumped on board just in time for the story to get intense, though it still seems terribly grim and gritty for a comic featuring the more family-friendly Justice Society (though the team has not adopted that name yet).
The art by Nicola Scott is terrific, as she provides powerful layouts and tremendous character designs - she's really doing outstanding work on this series.
It's still a bit too grim for my tastes, but the story is moving right along, so your mileage may vary.
