Doomsday Clock #7 (of 12)

Finally, after a year (or more) of questions and hints and little else, we finally get an appearance here from the omnipotent Dr. Manhattan, the prime mover behind all the events in Doomsday Clock.

But don't get your hopes too high - the big, buck naked blue guy deals in mysterious pronouncements and glimpses of a future that doesn't necessarily make sense.

It still feels like an odd mix to mush together the dark and ultra-serious world of the Watchmen with the somewhat more family-friendly environs of the DC Universe.

Though to be fair, the crossover is pretty minimal - characters meet, clash, and then go their separate ways.

I really think it's going to be difficult to judge the success or failure of this series until the finale - the art is great, the writing is sharp, and it manages to evoke the spirit (if not the depth) of the original Watchmen series.

But it remains to be seen if the marriage of these two concepts is one that actually works.
